Cheese? Said I.
As I opened one cautious eye.
No dog should ever dismiss the offer of food,
Why that would just be rude.
Rounding the corner I saw the cat,
Why couldn’t she have been something interesting, like a rat?
But then again, rats like cheese…hmm…it had better beware.
For I’m a dog, that I am, and we don’t share.
Whether it be a human, cat, rat or fish
It had better stay away from my dish!
Peering up at the counter, I could see my prize,
Just out of reach, I let out a sigh.
I can never understand why they take so long,
Feed me already, kitchen equals food and by food is where I belong.
I could smell the slices of American cheese, and I tried to be good.
As good as any dog could.
And what did they do?
But offer my food.
To that of the cat,
Who I might add is fat.
And she would have eaten it too
If I hadn’t gotten there first and with that she withdrew.
Greedily I ate,
I was done eating before you could count to eight.
That culprit of a cat,
Who might be a rat.
Nope, she won’t get my food ever again, said I
For that cheese and her cat food are rightfully MINE!
